Louis Poulsen

Louis Poulsen is a Danish lighting manufacturer known for combining functional illumination with distinctive Scandinavian design. Founded in Copenhagen in 1874, the company developed into one of Denmark’s most influential lighting manufacturers during the 20th century.

Its long collaboration with Poul Henningsen played a defining role in this development. Together they explored ways to control glare and create softer, more comfortable light. Henningsen’s multi-shade system became the foundation for many iconic Louis Poulsen lamps.

Over the decades, the company worked with leading designers and architects including Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton and Vilhelm Lauritzen. Well-known designs include the PH 5, PH Artichoke, AJ series and Panthella. Many remain in production today.
