Danish Teak Wall Cabinet, Denmark, 1960s

A beautifully proportioned Danish wall cabinet from the 1960s, combining extensive open storage with finely integrated closed compartments. Measuring two metres wide while remaining only 30 cm deep, the cabinet has a strong architectural presence without feeling heavy in the room.

The composition is divided into three vertical sections, creating a rhythmic arrangement of open shelves and concealed storage. On the left, a drop-front door opens to reveal a carefully finished interior with four shallow drawers, each lined with green felt and constructed with traditional dovetail joints. The central section remains open for books, ceramics or decorative objects, while the right side is fitted with two sliding glass doors decorated with vertical frosted stripes. These partially obscure the contents while adding a distinctive graphic element to the otherwise warm wooden composition.

The cabinet is executed in richly figured teak veneer, with particularly expressive grain across the back panels, shelves and door fronts. A small sculpted wooden pull on the drop-front door and the tall tapered legs add further refinement to the restrained design. The combination of open display space, drawers and enclosed storage makes the piece equally suitable as a bookcase, display cabinet or living-room storage piece.

Deense Teakhouten Wandkast, Denemarken, jaren 60
